A portrait of my daughter and I on my first Mother’s Day in spring 2025.

Welcome, I’m Lish Andres. I’m a writer who has worked across the industry for magazine, newspaper, book, and academic publishing houses in coordinator and editorial roles. This corner of the internet is my new home for personal writing projects.

I’ve lived in many places over the years, including Kansas City, Missouri; Prague, Czech Republic; and Asheville, North Carolina. When I became pregnant with our daughter in 2024, my husband and I decided to move back home to Michigan. These days, I’m writing from our 1900’s cottage in a little town close to Lake Michigan’s shoreline.

The words Abode and Abide are two river stones that I carry with me in my pocket. Abode describes a dwelling place. Abide expresses the act to endure or remain. Throughout my years of wandering, this is what I’ve come to know:

I am in constant search of home, yet I rest and remain in the arms of my Father.

A river scene that my husband photographed in Black Mountain, North Carolina.

I write to document the small, cozy moments of my days and to take a deeper look into the unknown spaces of myself. I record details of ordinary living, whether it’s a quiet morning in nature, my new journey in motherhood, or curious reflections and interactions that I have with the world.

As I type away at my keyboard and press publish on each newsletter, I invite you here to linger in these very personal, very intimate words of mine.

I’m glad to have you with me. ☕️✉️🍃
